Towelket One More Time Cover

Towelket One More Time (タオルケットをもう一度 Taoruketto wo mou ichido) is the third installment in the JRPG series Towelket, made in 2009 by Kanao (Kanashimi Hocchikisu).

As you and your parents were in the middle of moving out, you crawled into a cardboard on the back of the truck, nestled in your favorite Towelket. Unfortunately, the truck jolted due to a bump in the road, dropping you into the sea below.

You awaken on a nearby island, where three cute girls rouse you from your sleep. There, you discover you are under the "Curse of Curves":  forced to walk in straight lines like a robot, as otherwise you will be flung by some mysterious force to a red X mark on the island.

Despite the simple and seemingly nonsensical plot, Towelket One More Time is praised for its depth, being regarded as an RPG Maker cult classic in Japan. It was novelized in 2014, and later was remade with the RPG Maker MV engine.

This project is a re-translation that improves on an existing English patch made by PPU, an old fan who worked on this game back in 2013. Our idea was to update the translation so that it is on par with the other patched games in the series, while also reintroducing the title to Western audiences.

In order to play this game, you must unzip the contents. You can use any file archiver of your liking for this purpose.

  1. Download the game.
  2. Unzip the contents.
    • Right-click on the downloaded file.
    • Find and click on the Extract option.
    • Choose Extract files...
    • Select the destination folder where you want to extract the files.
  3. After unzipping the game:
    • Navigate to the folder where you extracted the contents.

Here, you will find that the game comes with both the original RPG Maker executable, as well as EasyRPG.

Simply running either the "StartFullscreen.exe" or "StartWindowed.exe" is sufficient to run the original executable. The EasyRPG executable is named "Player.exe", and can be found inside the "data" folder as "data/Player.exe".  You can create a shortcut for ease of access if you'd like.

EasyRPG is a more modern, free and open source alternative to run RPG Maker 2000/2003 games. It also offers an option to fast-forward by pressing and holding "F" (which makes the game run at x3 the speed). However, there have been reports of problems with MIDI playback. If you experience any problem, we recommend using the original executable instead.

Although the game is not explicit, it does contain pixel graphical imagery (blood, gore and body horror), swearing, as well as suggestive language.

First 50%: Random events plot
Last 50%: A profoundly philosophical exploration of the nature and transience of emotions in an endless, eternal universe
Chun's journey really did a number on the narrative

I'm completely new to the series and found this game from your page. I can't believe I didn't hear of it before. What an incredible game. The translation was flawless and I was very engaged. Thank you for your hard work translating the whole thing!

You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the game and the translation!

Thank you so much for the re translation! This is my favorite game in the saga but it was a bit difficult to understand some parts of the original translation. <3

You're welcome, and thanks for the comment! I also made a small post detailing a few things regarding the translation. I don't normally do these since I'm busy, and it's not like I go in-depth regarding the details of the translation, but if you're interested you can check it here.

Thank you, I'll be sure to read it! The towelket saga is so intriguing and sometimes hard to follow, but sure worth it!
