Legend of Door ~Gale Wings~
A downloadable game for Windows
Legend of Door ~Gale Wings~ (扉の伝説~風のつばさ~, Tobira no Densetsu ~Kaze no Tsubasa~) is a free JRPG primarily developed by Denjirou Jr. After four years of development and several updates, the final version, here translated, was published in 2007.

Synopsis
This is a story set in a certain world without a name.
In the remote village of Kast, home to many who have fled from their pasts, fifteen-year-old Lucia Maverick stands before her father's grave, ready to tell him the news. As a fresh semi-adult, she is determined to quit her job as a housemaid and become an adventurer or a royal guard, in the hopes of securing enough money to pay for the treatment of her ill younger sister, Anna. However, unbeknownst to her, an ancient terror has begun to stir from its slumber, threatening to engulf everything in darkness once again and for all.
It all began with a little promise... Lucia did not know her adventure would be long and full of stories... How many will you see unfold before the journey ends?
Legend of Door is the second game developed by the circle Door. Despite being a free game, it's a particularly famous work due to its massive volume (easily exceeding 100 hours to complete), the difficulty of its battles, its engaging storyline, and the number of distinctive characters present throughout it (over 40 characters can join your party).
While considered a cult classic in Japan, it has remained relatively unknown outside its home country. But with this translation, a new door has been opened. Will you go inside?

Install instructions
In order to play this game, you must unzip the contents.
- Download the game.
- Unzip the contents.
- Right-click on the downloaded file.
- Find and click on the Extract option.
- Choose Extract files...
- Select the destination folder where you want to extract the files.
- After unzipping the game:
- Navigate to the folder where you extracted the contents.
Here, you will find an executable named EasyRPG Player-ff (8.1).exe, as well as a folder named Tobiden, which contains the game's files.
EasyRPG is a more modern, free, and open source alternative to run RPG Maker 2000/2003 games. It also offers an option to fast-forward by pressing and holding "F" (which makes the game run at x3 the speed), or "G" (which makes the game run at x10 the speed). However, there have been reports of problems with MIDI playback. If you experience any issues, we recommend using the original executable instead.
Playing on Windows
To play the game, simply run EasyRPG Player-ff (8.1) and then select the entry named Tobiden from within the application. Alternatively, if you experience any issues, you can open the Tobiden folder in your file explorer and run the executable RPG_RT.exe inside.
Playing on Other OS (Linux, Mac, Android)
There are multiple projects that allow users to run RPG Maker games on other operating systems, including EasyRPG (which provides Linux binaries). You may attempt to run this game with these programs, but keep in mind that it might not run without issues. Missing audio or images are a common occurrence, and playing certain media files (such as movies) is among the most notable examples of what may cause game crashes in these environments. Furthermore, since this game does include such files, we cannot guarantee that your program will not crash or break if you attempt to run it using these alternatives. Therefore, please keep in mind that we can only provide troubleshooting support for Windows, since it is the only environment that we have fully tested to ensure the game works properly.
If you would still like to try playing this game with these programs, you can download the alternate version offered in this page (Movie-less Version), which may offer better support. However, we still cannot guarantee that it will work, nor can we offer support if you run into any problems, since no one on the team currently uses these systems.
Thank you for your understanding.

Finished FE 9 and now i can open FE 10, now the patch with two additional chests for premium items can work or not yet? Also how i get Enemy Eye on Lucia
Yes, the chest for Premium Items should appear after FE9. Even after finishing FE10, there are still plenty of Premium Items you can go back and get, so only the permanently missable ones are unlocked. Do keep in mind the FEX chest also requires clearing Coriander Maze.
Enemy Eye can be learned after reading Tips for Tomorrow II in Champollio Library. You need to read Tips for Tomorrow I twice before it becomes accessible.
I guess I'm really dumb but where is the bone field? I go up through the World End Tower and there is a blocked off ice mountain area west?
The area you’re looking for is Gilgoles, the entrance to which (Pelton Canyon) is located east of the snowy area. Making it the Bone Field requires traversing the area in a particular way to reach its northwestern section, represented by three dead trees (which should be visible before even entering Gilgoles).
I might be messing something up but I followed the guide for the Distibald Murder Case and it doesn't proc any cutscene to get asked questions?
Hello! There don’t seem to be any missing points in the guide, so if Lucia says “I feel like there’s a lot of unnecessary info thrown in there,” it’s likely you accidentally picked up an irrelevant piece of evidence somewhere down the line and either need to track that piece of info down to de-select it (Choose “Exclude”) or restart the mission fresh. Otherwise, if she says “I feel like I don’t have quite enough info yet,” then that indicates you missed a necessary piece of evidence and just need to double-check each spot to make sure you have them.
Thanks it worked it was the blood under the window. Yeah I got rid of unnecessary clues and it worked
Curently trying to unlock FE5. I have done all of these (and FE1 to FE4 if it matters).
- You trashed all of Marcus' Slave Markets.
- With the "Ly Loop" Info set, you spoke with the troubadour at the top of the Free Market.
- You are an A-Rank Hanger and have access to the southern island of Nicosia.
Now I'm stuck at trying to analyze the wall in coln and/or make the blue-haired girl appear. Is there another specific trigger for either actions?
If you watched the cutscene upon entering Coln, that fulfills the condition. You should find the blue-haired girl in a little area (represented as a house on the overworld) west of Coln. The only two triggers to get her to appear are hearing the Ly story and seeing the Coln cutscene.
somehow I missed that I can go upwards in the blue-haired girl area... can unlock FE5 door without issue now, thanks!
Biggest mystery at least for me is why they cut off the best music in the game (NjomozuZ13(boss), aka the warbeast battle theme) . Really kills the hype in some battles. Personal recommendation is finding an older version of the game and swapping said file if you really like the full version of the bgm.
I love the game so far but I'm stuck on post first Slave Market it says drop off the refugees but I'm not sure where? I tried Trading City and Hanger Guild.
Slightly East then South of Cliffhanger
currently having difficulties in finding “Wandering Land Ship” which is "Wandering Pirate Ship" side quest ig, I can't find the ship at all I'm trying to find it since FE2 and I'm already FE7 and didn't find it 💀tried triggering rain fall but still nothing
btw when do you recommend doing the coriander maze, or is there a limit so I don’t go beyond it given where I’m at now?
Every day, the Land Ship has a 50% chance to appear north of Forte Village. The Rain Stone can indeed be used. Just don’t forget you need to have the Info toggled to see it. Coriander Maze can be done at any time, feel free to tackle it in bits and pieces, but don’t expect to defeat the final boss unless you’re closer to max level.
What would be the fastest way of getting more wisdom spirits? I am lacking a lot of them
On the 2nd and 4th floors of World End Tower (north of Acquia), there’s an enemy called the Mind Flayer. They have a 25% chance to drop Wisdom. As far as I know, this is the only feasible way of grinding this Spirit type.
This game was an absolute joy and adventure to play through. An extremely ambitious and unique experience that I am glad to have the opportunity to play through thanks to the translation team. Also thank you for the work on the guide, it greatly enriched the playthrough! (as well as made it possible to see everything the game had to offer in the first place lol)
Currently trying to get a black ticket I have the needed party member in my party and talked to the vendor near the theather, he only tells me the option for information on the location of the Black Market. Is this a bug, or am I overseeing things?
Do you have the “Black Market” Info selected? It may seem a bit counter-intuitive, but you actually need to de-select the info to purchase a Black Ticket from him.
Oh thanks a lot, I did have the Info set.
I have boat from gore quest and A rank hanger license, but I'm stuck trying to go to Bone Field. After climbing World End Tower, it seems the path is go through some kind of valley -> leave into an overworld map with only a single red dragon enemy -> enter mountain (I think Gasbar mountain? I don't know how to identify the location name) -> enter an ice cave -> then at the end, there is an icicle that I cannot destroy with fire magic. How to proceed? or is there another way into Bone Field that I don't know?
Ah, I did neglect to mention that icicle in the guide. To melt it, you need a Flame Gem, which can be found inside Nascil Mountain (the small outer island with a volcano, west of Klein). Some enemies there also drop it with Treasure Eye or Pilfer. I’ll update the guide, thanks!
Flame gem worked perfectly, thanks!
whereeee do i get a rogue key lv. 3
If you’re looking to grab a key just for Emerald’s unlocking skill, you can find a few pretty early either at Mt. Guido’s Hundred Hole Cave section in the very top left cave with Secret Search and a Crash Hammer (which can be bought at Coriander Maze), or World End Tower, which requires the sailing boat. Some Mimics also drop it if Treasure Eye is used. If you want a more steady supply, Grom starts selling them on the airship if you buy from him about 30 times.
Sorry if it's a dumb question. I made it to Ukanets, but the stagecoach guild's door is closed. Am I doing something wrong?
Hello there! Yes, you have to set the “Donovan’s Request” info to make it open.
I get that the setting of the info changes dialogues, but magically opening and closing doors? I guess, it was my mistake operating on the common sense and not on the game's logic. I'll keep it in mind from now on. Thanks!
Hello hope you’re having a good day!
i have this problem in the continuation of destor’s fe(gashlan’a true name) where when i try to type the code for the alekmendel library it doesn’t have much space to type the code fully which is “read silently) i can only type to “read silentl) and when i checked the guide it says the code is “read quietly” and i tried to type that and it says it’s the wrong code. Thanks for the amazing translation btw!
Hello! The passwords are case-sensitive, so if you enter it as “Read Quietly” with the first letters of both words capitalized, it should work. I will be sure to fix that slight inconsistency in wording in the next update, thanks!
thanks it worked! But i also faced another problem sadly 😅 in the arbos village quest i can’t interact with all the trees to get the info.
If Lucia says “This sure is a weird spot for a tree to be growing” with no follow-up, it may have to do with your Sensitivity, which you can check by using Mimine in your inventory. If it’s below 20, you should definitely try to get it up.
thx for all the help and I’m sorry if I’m asking too much but is there a way for me to access the after content when you finish the true ending 😅? Like a save file or something because i had missed a couple of premium items and i used the debugger. Thank you once again!
There is a patch with instructions included in the guide, available here
Speak to King Premium once you have all of them. If you missed an item that isn’t covered by this patch, I suppose your only option is the debug menu.
currently fe1/post airship collecting premium items. where do I find the 3. for spritzia (I mean the part 3 as it's written in the pdf)? where the black swordsman is after that? I also tried to advance in gilgoles but I was told by the game I need an axe (cause of some trees), but idk where to get it
To scout the black swordsman after the Spritzia event, you just need to find him again at one of his usual places as detailed in the guide, set the [Scout] info, and talk to him. It takes a bit of luck, because the locations he appears at change every day: the Hanger Guild bar, Coriander’s 1st floor, Mt. Guido 1-8, Est’s Cellar Bower, and Ukanets’ Peaceful Pavilion. Also, the Lumberjack axe can be crafted at Mary’s workshop aboard the ship.
hello again, still really loving the game thanks for your tl work again
for the premium item patch, and the guide, nomad glasses should ideally be marked as missable as my genius self very much did miss it, and none of the other ones, maybe add the premium mark to the driffid oil one as well, by the time I started going for premium items I was past day 200 unfortunately... was putting off driffid harvest cuz I thought it wasn't important orz
additionally, is the debug supposed to be accessible in the recent patch? doesn't seem so but it did let me personally fix the issue of missing nomad glasses because it isn't in the patch
Driffid Oil can also be obtained at Bolmeo Marsh with Treasure Eye/Pilfer, so it isn’t a missable Premium Item. I updated the guide to clarify this, so thank you for the report. Also, I’m not exactly sure which debug mode you’re talking about, but EasyRPG does come built-in with a feature like that, yes.
ah, I see, feels good to know I didn't really miss a premium item💪🏻
the debug mode was an option between save and end that was debug, had a bunch of menus for encounters, map teleport, items, etc, I lack screenshots cuz it's not there now for whatever indiscernible reason, but it was notable enough to ask in case like it was left in by you or something, yknow?
Need help
Spoiler
cant beat the Mugen bossfight, i tried following the guide, but i realized, that i dont have the protect skill, what now?Spoilers
Well, if the issue is that your characters are too low level, you could bring a bulkier party of Warson, Lance, and Milca to try and make it through. Spam her AOE heals, try to focus down Mugen first. Maybe you have some Magic Crests that could be put to use as well. Otherwise, if you're absolutely stuck and at your wits' end, and you understandably don't feel like restarting the whole FE, you could always turn to RPG Maker save editors online. Thanks a lot
Hello and thanks for translating the game.
I accidentally locked myself from getting a premium item and attempted to use the patch in the guide, however in the premium room I see only one additional chest, and selecting "Please do" when opening it doesn't seem to do anything. Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you for the report. I updated the link to that file (Map0175), so please try to download it again and see if both chests are there. As for what they do, I will explain the details:
Spoilers
1.The Premium Item chest should cause a door to appear in the same room after speaking to King Premium. This is content meant to be done after the Finale, and I believe it will only work then.2.The FEX chest causes several side events to appear in the Side Event Room. Watching them should re-open the Fortune Event Door and make FEX accessible, but I’m pretty sure it only works if you open the chest BEFORE actually completing (or starting?) the Finale, so if you’re past that point, you may need to reload a save to access FEX. If it’s still not showing up, I think you need the Philosopher’s Stone, so make sure you completed Coriander Maze. I based the patch on someone else’s work and I’m not entirely sure of the specifics, so do let me know if you run into any other issues.
Spoilers
Obtaining the philosopher’s stone made the second chest show up, and opening that made the side event “Once in a Lifetime” show up as well as unlock what I presume is the door to FEX (the slightly ajar Fortune Door door).
However there are no other side events that show up, even after watching “Once in a Lifetime” like the guide suggests. Considering that the FEX door is open, can I just start it and be on my way or should I attempt to fulfill the requirements as much as possible? I have the radio and finished both “Mitty and Thomas” and “Relic Lab” quests but I haven’t spoken to King Premium (for obvious reasons), Weiss just has his default text when I try to talk to him, and I haven’t completed either of widow’s friendship events.
Thanks again for your help.
Spoilers
That is indeed the FEX door, and if it’s available then you should be fine to get started with it. However, you will be missing some of the context leading up to FEX. If I had to guess, the patch was probably forced to be this way, skipping the Widow events, because he’s actually a missable party member, believe it or not (Lucia’s FE is a really poorly designed event lol). Judging by what you’ve said, it seems like the Premium Items are the only area you messed up in, so you could theoretically just unlock all of them using that one chest and skip using the FEX chest, then progress with the FEX checklist laid out in the guide if you wanted the full context. Otherwise, if you don’t care, as long as you’ve seen Once in a Lifetime you should be fine.Spoilers
Sounds good, I will proceed through the door then. Here are the quests which tripped me up, I think it would be good to include in the guide somewhere so other people won’t make the same mistake.
Basalt Extermination Part II - Impossible to get the info after the cliffhanger hanger guild is destroyed (I actually reloaded for this and grabbed it post FE10 but pre-Klein scene, but did a lot of premium item hunting then ran into the second one and was unwilling to redo all of that).
Phantom Thief Ramiel - Unable to speak to the Klein guards to start it since they don’t appear post-Klein scene after FE10.
Spoilers
Apologies for digging this back up.
I’ve completed the true finale and am in the post-completion doors room (with the staff room available), however, the premium item unlock chest still doesn’t seem to do anything.
I tested this chest on a save file much further back (when I had 20 premium items) and it unlocked 2 items I didn’t have at the time, the rain stone and the box of gluttony. This save file already has other missable premium items such as the potted grace and rude’s final score, so I assume it unlocks everything that is listed as missable in the guide.
The items that I’m missing in this completed save file are the angel scarf and the flag of courage - could I ask for a patch that includes these items (or I suppose all of them?), or barring that, simply a save file that will allow me to view the true ending? I would greatly appreciate it, and thanks again for your hard work.
No problem, and I’m glad someone used the patch so I can sort these issues out. I just updated the patch link, so try downloading and replacing the map again and it should unlock what you need. Just don’t forget to speak to King Premium. Also thanks for pointing out the couple problematic quests I missed in the guide.
This is most likely a glitch, but Konoha never gave me the XXX book even though I did everything that was required. Weird—I have 39 out of 40 premium items, but not this one.
If you paid the contingency fee, you should have an item called “Supply:Rarity” in your inventory. If so, all you need to do is add Konoha to your party and then visit any one of the three hidden villages to exchange it for the book. The easiest one to get to is north of Mt. Boyd near Ukanets. I’ve just updated the web guide to clarify this, so thank you for the report.
It seems to have worked; thank you for the information.
Thank you for your hard work! Having alot of fun with the game but I have a bit of an issue. Currently doing early sub-events and the option to buy the painting from the Church in Ukanets isn't showing up for me. The "Fine Art" info is also unavailable since I already got the painting from Forte Village, which I assume is what makes this piece of info show up as "Done". Am I missing something or did I accidentally lock myself out of completing this questline?
Hello! Thankfully, the Fine Art info is only required for the Forte painting. The church painting is a little different in that it requires 30+ Sensitivity for Lucia to react to it and prompt the purchase request. I will clarify this in the guide to prevent any further confusion, thanks!
Ah, that makes sense. I felt like I had gotten enough sensitivity by now with all the food and donations to bards I've made but it seems I'm just a bit short. I may be missing it but is there any way to check sensitivity? Regardless, thank you for clearing that up!
Yes, you can check what’s your sensitivity with Mimine (the fairy you can summon from your inventory).
Amazing work on this!
Thanks so much to the translation team for a massive effort on this huge game. Between replaying zakuzaku and now picking up Tobiden, the year of RPGMaker is going to repeat in 2026. Absolutely love your work, can't stress it enough.
Thank you for your hard work in localising this game. I was wondering if you have any recommendation regarding MIDI in this game. Currently, I’m using MIDI emulation through MUNT with a CM-32 ROM. This sounds OK, although I’m not too far into the game myself. But since you’re familiar with the game, do you happen to know if the music was composed for another platform, or if CM-32 is sufficient to hear all the instruments as it was originally designed?
All I know is, most of the tracks were probably “meant” to be heard using Roland SC-55, but unfortunately I don’t know if there’s any particular file that won’t play properly in MUNT with CM-32.
Thanks for clarifying! I suppose I can try running it through Nuked SC-55 and see if there are differences. Thanks again, and enjoy your holidays. ;-)
I haven't tried Nuked SC-55, I'll have to give that a whirl next. There's an SC-55 soundfont from one of the archive.org packs that had a few hiccups for me, hopefully yours works out better. I've been stuck on my phone over Christmas so the Phoenix GM-10 soundfont has been working wonderfully ever since I flipped to it for a test.
Hang a reply if you try anything weird and wonderful that turns out sounding great. It's a fun rabbithole to fall down, trying all these soundfonts out.
edit: oh, I was just talking about .SF2 files but I see nuked is a much more comprehensive emulation. Whoops!
If you are interested in giving it a go, there is a recent fork of the Nuked SC-55 project with improved UI and other optimisations here. I’ve tested it briefly with Tobiden earlier today, and it seems to work fine. For this game, you might need to reset the emulator to GM mode first. The SC-55 manual should have the proper instructions on how to do it.
soft lock: can't craft bomb jammer (using newest version)
It seems you’re actually short of the necessary number of Harpy Feathers (It requires 2, but you only have 1). The dialogue box was a mistake by the dev. It should say “Not enough Harpy Feathers”, but says Sonic Dagger instead.
Hello and I’m sorry to hear that. When you examine a Living Rope climbing point, do you see the text “It seems like you could climb here with a rope”? If so, you may need to enable the rope in the Party Option menu after pressing Shift. Also, because I’m unsure which section(s) you’re referring to, do keep in mind some climbing points require REGULAR ropes, so that could be part of the issue.
I thought they were consumeables and not menu items so I got confused, thanks! I actually got a different softlock though, added screenshot this time.
Think I accidentally failed the Crest Shoplifter event, I wanted to do it but when I talk to the student he only says ".....", fear I might have not given him a warning in the past. Any idea how I can fix it?
Also, for whatever reason I don't see a "sparkly point" in the Seleune Migrants quest. I have secret search on.
Hello! Both of these issues likely have to do with your Sensitivity count. You can use Mimine (the fairy in your inventory) to confirm how much you have, and if it’s below 30, I would definitely try to get it up closer to 50 by tipping performers, eating at restaurants, etc.
yo, unsure if this is game or user error, but over the last 5 hours I have tirelessly searched Ukanets for a way to open fortune event 2's door, in the guide I've done all of the requirements, on top of multiple additional quests in Ukanets, I bought the painting for 10k, completed all of the quests, viewed all of the side events, spoke to illya in the brothel district, found a vod of a playthrough of this game untranslated, scrubbed through about 15 hours of footage, nothing in Ukanets they do is different, and the fortune event 2 door is open for them
having an incredible time with the game past this, good work boss, feel a little stupid about this lol
Hello! Just to be sure, you have reopened the art gallery and are sleeping at the Ukanets inn, correct? If so, it could be your Benevolence count, so check to see if you have at least 1.
I
opened the art gallery with 200 or so extra points, and got 2 benevolence, and am sleeping at the ukanets inn and the door is closed stilloh yes, to add on as well, I've tried opening from the file and from easyrpg, as well as reinstalling from gdrive both before and after getting 2 benevolence this morning
Hmm. Okay, in that case, I have a sneaking suspicion it may have to do with the Pickpocket Boy quest. Are you absolutely sure you talked to the tea-drinking man in the bar with the [Scout] Info, then spoke to the boy and went along with his invitation? Maybe you chose not to follow the boy?
I'm absolutely positive I went along with him, I fought blood there, but I followed what you said in an earlier comment, replaced that map file, redid the quest without sniffing out his lie, just following it completely, still didn't work, but when I with very little hope tried switching from easyrpg to original, the door is open there, checked easyrpg again, door is closed there.
no idea how this happened LOL but it solved the problem thanks
is there any way out of fortune events if you save in them? I’m currently getting destroyed by the final boss of the first event. If not are there any cheats or anything i can use?? Really dont want to have to start over…
never mind, i figured it out and beat him… learned my lesson for backups though!
Hi, I'm trying to get to achstan and I already have the achstan pass and a-rank but I not sure how to get there. I tried checking the world map and going there by airship but it doesnt let me enter, im not sure if I have to speak to an npc to get access or if its bugged out...
You have to go south of Acquia (the town overseas from Ukanet), there is a sort of Greco-Roman building, enter it and talk with the guy inside.
Finally found it. Thank you!
Hi there!
I'm trying to play the translation in an actual Windows XP (where the original runs without issues), but the translated version thows out a "Stream read error".
I've tried with both download links, and with both Japanese RTS and English RTS.
I'd rather not use EasyRPG, but in any case it's compiled for 64bit OS so I can't anyway.
Thanks!
Hello and thank you for the report. Could you try downloading the Google Drive mirror version again to see if you still get this error?
Now it's working, thanks!
hey, not sure where else to ask this. I’m trying to buy the painting in the church/orphange for 10,000 G, in order to recruit the dancer, but whenever I examine it, Lucia just wonders about the story behind it with no option to purchase. Just wondering what I could be missing? Thanks
Hello! It seems you may be lacking the Sensitivity required. Try to raise it by tipping musicians, sending letters to Anna, and eating out at places and see if that changes anything.
With the pickpocketing event I accidentally didn't go along with him, any way to fix this? only just realized now after doing all the other events before advancing to FE.
Hello! If you find yourself in this position without any backup saves to rely on, you can try this:
Spoilers
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zWHieqFld8TK5uvNdxExgXWx6q8nCEOh/view?usp=drive_linkDownload this file and place it in the “Tobiden” folder. Then, attempt to scout the tea-drinking man again and the event should reset. You may need to exit and re-enter the bar.
What's the difference between the two exe files? I thought the original would be the Japanese version, but that's not it.
If you mean
RPG_RT.exeandRPG_RT_original.exe, the former has the default icon changed, while the latter is simply a backup generated in case the executable is corrupted. You can’t ship “two language versions” of the same game in the same folder, because their files would share filenames, which means the maps would contain either the original or the translated text. You could certainly edit the game and add both scripts plus a flag for the language, but that goes way beyond the scope of a translation.
Hello i was doing the slave market mission, i freed the first group of slaves but its asking me to drop them off? i dont know how do do that and im stuck the guide doesnt say anything does anyone know what to do here?
Oh, thank you for pointing that out, the online guide has been updated.
You have to drop them off at Bonanza Village, located north of Eastwood. Check this map if you don’t remember where that is (hint, bottom center).
thank you so much
Thank you so much for translating this game, you guys are incredible!
i was wondering exactly how many and wich quests were missible because of day count? i know there are a few
Spoilers ahead, so don’t check unless you want to find out on your own.
Spoilers
It's only three, and one of them is necessary for the True Ending (and outlined in the guide). The list is as follows:
I didn’t think I’d see this translated, thank you so much
It's very hard to find information in English about this game (unless I read the walkthrough in the files I suppose), so I am asking directly.
I know this would be unusual for such an old RPGmaker game, but is there any active decision making in things like romance (if the game has any at all)? For example, can I avoid Lucia falling for any of the guys?
I am partial to same-sex romance, but I do not expect it from a game from 2007, so even avoiding romance altogether would be better than the alternative.
Apologies for inquiring about something so trivial when the game has probably so much else to offer, but it can really make or break the experience for me. Good JRPGs with female protagonists are rare enough as is, so I am really hopeful.
What you ask may or may not spoil the experience for others, so I’m afraid I’ll have to hide this under a spoiler mark. For anyone else who wants to find out on their own, please do NOT check the rest of this post.

There's no romance choices you can make in the game. I'm afraid to say that Lucia has her heart set on someone, and there's nothing you can do to change that (regardless of how it ends). Since you specifically mentioned that this may be a breaker for you, I'll further clarify that this someone is male. And although I'd argue the "romance elements" are fairly minor in this game, that is a subjective appreciation. The fact still stands that most of the important couples in this game (not talking about Lucia here) are male/female pairs, and the motivation of some of these characters are driven by this. You would be surprised, but this is far more common than you seem to think. Perhaps not so much in the big RPG titles that made their way to the west, but it’s still fairly prevalent in the doujin circles. In fact, one of the female characters has a HUGE crush on Lucia, and it’s not implied or “played as good friends” or anything of the sort. Had Lucia been written slightly differently, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more Yuri elements in this game, but unfortunately that isn’t the case.
Thank you for your candid response. I am glad you were so open to respond about something that is indeed a very personal nitpick of mine.
In regards to your point about many older RPGmaker games having same-sex romance, you are absolutely right. I have played games like Random Dungeon and Princess and the Rose Knight, so I should have been more nuanced. My expectations are always cautious, because I have been burned many times, but I should not resign myself before even asking, as I did.
Congratulations on finishing such a huge project anyway and I hope many people will play this classic.
where can i find random dungeon (hard game to google lol)
This is the translator's (Rusty Cradle Translations) bluesky post with links to their translations including Random Dungeon.

There is also a copy of the English version on the internet archive ( you know archive(dot)org ), you just need to put it into the search bar. Though you need an account to download things from the archive.
thanks
