Light Magic 2 (2005) is the second game by Kanao (Kanashimi Hocchikisu), and the first publicly released game by the developer. It was translated by @NingenDesu in 2024.
Synopsis
You are a young boy going to a school trip. Unfortunately, you wake up late, only to find out you were left behind!
To make things worse, all the adults seem to have gone crazy.
Is there anything you can do to solve this mystery?
This game could be considered the precursor of the Towelket Series. It shares many of its key traits, such as a focus on humor, references to Japanese media, unpredictable plot lines, and a liberal dose of nonsense as its main driving factor.
As an old relic from its era, this game had a fair share of bugs and janky mechanics — which we have preserved in this translation just for your maximum enjoyment. Make ample use of your savefile slots.

How to Play
In order to play this game, you must unzip the contents. You can use any file archiver of your liking for this purpose.
- Unzip the contents
- Right-click on the downloaded file.
- Find and click on the Extract option.
- Select the destination folder where you want to extract the files.
- After unzipping the game:
- Navigate to the folder where you extracted the contents.
There you will find that the game comes with both the original RPG Maker 2003 executable "RPG_RT.exe", as well as EasyRPG's executable "Player.exe".
EasyRPG is a more modern, free and open source alternative to run RPG Maker 2000/2003 games. It also offers an option to fast-forward by pressing and holding "F" (which makes the game run at x3 the speed). However, there have been reports of problems with MIDI playback. If you experience any problem, we recommend using the original executable instead.

Before considering, I need to know whether that dialog line about death penalty is satirical about the idea expressed or if it genuinely think it's a clever point.
Well, I can't speak for the developer, especially for a game they made 19 years ago. But given everything happening in the game, from parents trying to kill their children, to said children fighting some funny mouse in the sewers and visiting the prime minister of Japan... uh, yeah, I would say you shouldn't think too hard about it.

Yes, Kanao (the author) is being 100% serious.
In fact, everything said by any NPC represents the author's stance on whatever they are discussing.
