I don’t have a Steam Deck, but assuming you’re on Windows:
If you’re not using these exes already, you should try running the “StartFullscreen” or “StartWindowed” executables. RPGmaker by default supports MIDI playback. If the Windows that comes with the SD has MIDI support out of the box, this will use Window’s synth table for playback. If not, you may have to install something like “CoolSoft VirtualMidiSynth” and a “soundfont”.
The reason I recommend trying these executables is because there have been reports with problems regarding MIDI playback support with EasyRPG. You could also try other builds and see if any of those play properly

(We found out that version 6.0 seems to work most of the time, but it’s still not perfect).
Thanks for the quick response! Steam Deck runs on a custom Linux OS. Anyway, it turns out I just can't read 😅
I ran the game with Proton and it booted up and played fine, however, Linux doesn't normally support MIDI files, and it seems to be a nightmare to make it do so.
After struggling for hours to figure that out, I finally realized that you literally wrote on your installation instructions to use EasyRPG Player. Once I did that, the game played perfectly and the music worked as well.
Thanks again for your response and thank you for your hard work on the translation!
I knew the steam deck has both a custom Linux and Windows, but I wasn’t sure which one you were trying. I figured Windows was easier to set up if the problem was MIDI support. I suppose either Proton isn’t set up to do MIDI passthrough out of the box, or the original RPGMaker engine is expecting to find some files that don’t come with the installation, or something along those lines.
Just for curiosity (in case someone has the same problem in the future), did you run the Windows version of EasyRPG that comes with the game on Proton, or did you download a native Linux build of it?
On the phone, you mean? Some phones tend to pick the images from unpacked folders (like music albums or manga) and make them visible in their galleries, it's probably depends in which directory you do download all the stuff. Just check the file path of the images, if it goes to the game directory, it's fine.
Thanks for the translation! I've been meaning to try out the Towelket series, and uploading it on itch.io was a good excuse for me. Here's episode 1 of my playthrough for those interested:
To be honest, looking at the content warnings, I thought this game was a lot darker than it was. The only part that mildly disturbed me was the rampant sexual harassment of a particular character (which I still don't know if it was supposed to be funny or not!), but otherwise it was mostly a standard JRPG experience in my opinion.
So, a question to the translators, or anyone who's played the games: Do the other entries in the Towelket get more interesting in terms of story? I do have a morbid preference for dark themes in RPGmaker games such as End Roll and Omori, so if it goes in that direction, that would be great!
Thank you too, for helping us make the series popular! As for the content - yeah, tk3 is the most lighthearted entry in the series. Check out 2, 1, and Fury, and rest assured, you'll find everything you need in there (honestly, I'm not even sure we'll even upload Fury in here due to its content, lol).

Any idea why the music wouldn't work? Game is running perfectly fine on Steam Deck, however, there is no music. Sound effects work fine.

I’m glad you figured it out!

I downloaded the native Linux build - Super easy and worked right away!
Awesome. Thanks for the reply!
I downloaded the game today I found out I have new pictures in my gallery, is this normal?
